How long does it take to change a front drivers side cv-joint on a 1998 ford explorer?

well if you only have a jack and jack stands you can still do it in under a hour. i don't have a lift just a jack and stands, I just did a front cv axle for someone in 40 minutes. How long does it take to change a front drivers side cv-joint on a 1998 ford explorer?depends entirely on how skilled the worker is and what level of tools they have access to. Me with air tools and my toolbox 45 min about on a lift.

amature: as much as half a day if they have very few tools or cheap tool quality. How long does it take to change a front drivers side cv-joint on a 1998 ford explorer? If you have a good manual, and reasonable mechanical ability, maybe 2 hours. Pull the tire, pull the brake caliper, pull the rotor, pull out the shaft. Just make sure that when u put in the new shaft it's fully seated, some light taps may be needed. If so, make sure you put a piece of wood on the end of it before you start tapping on it as you will damage the splines..
